Title: Interlines plus Extralines – How to Touch an Open Form
Date: January 8–15, 2026
Venue: Naruto University of Education
Target group: Artists, students, and art education teachers
In collaboration with Dr. Moe Iezaki.
This three-day workshop focuses on gradually releasing classical creative rules and entering an open form that emphasises a sensitive perception of space, imagination, performativity, and collective attunement. At the beginning, the participants co-create a scenographic environment that becomes an active field for further experimentation. They work with the principles of open form, with found materials, ceramic clay, and their own bodies in space. Japan functions here as a symbolic “geographical game board” — a mutable territory that, through play, becomes a laboratory landscape for examining spatial relations between the local and the global, the individual and the collective, the material and the imaginary.
