David Böhm & Jiří Franta: VICTORY FACTORY

David Böhm & Jiří Franta are graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the Studio of a painting by Vladimíra Skrepla and Jiřího Kovandy. The artistic duo has long focused on exploring the possibilities of the medium of drawing. Their art is based on experimentation and on the search for various interdisciplinary aspects of drawing, which they understand as a tool and an everyday aid, but also as a fully-fledged component of their work. By constantly pushing the boundaries of established forms of drawing they also blur the definition of authorship. Next to the final drawings, the video recordings, photographic documentation, and texts become autonomous works of art that are important for the actual interpretation. The act revealing the creative process, which the artists often merely initiate, is thus a kind of experiment imbued with a great amount of hyperbole and playfulness. Recently their interest is shifting to objects and installations.
